General Update and A Few Reviews.

Okay, so recently I asked myself "Why don't I just book vlog instead of book blog?" Then I remembered, "Oh right, it's because I suck in front of cameras."
Anyway, onto other important things :
 - I need to add some flare to this site, y'know, a nicely designed heading, a good background, etc.
 - I got a new dog! I know this isn't on the subject of books, so get over it. Her name is Reese and she's a Black&Tan German Shepard. (Mostly Black.)
 - Recent books I've read : Exit Here - Jason Myers , Speak - Laure Halse Anderson
Exit Here is about a nineteen year-old boy named Travis. Hobbies : Doing drugs with his friends, and having relations with his crappy on-again off-again girlfriend. I didn't finish this book simply because my friend ruined the ending of it for me. To be fair, she spoiled it before she knew I was going to read the book so no hard feelings. :) This book contains a lot of profanity, sex, and drugs, so if you dislike that kind of thing I suggest you don't read it. Overall I give the book 3 stars, because it was good, but not 'Oh My God, give this book a medal and a few awards! afgebibfiabu!!" (My friend may feel that way about the book, but I on the other hand, don't.)
Speak is about a young girl named Melinda, who has to start highschool dealing with the fact she was raped at a party over the summer. She has chosen not to speak about it, and becomes less talkative as the book progresses. 5 Stars. Awesome book. Read it, Read it now.

We are currently redoing my bedroom so all my books are packed away, but I'll see what I can find to read next.
Byee!! :)

Exit Here - Jason Myers

Let me start off by saying I did NOT finish this book.
I mean, technically I guess I did.
The reason it took all summer for me to almost finish this was because I was very busy, not to mention my friend told me how it ended before I decided I wanted to read the book.
So, yeah, 3 stars. I liked this book. It was good. I just didn't LOVE it.
:)

Oh, and sorry there isn't any of the usual mumbo jumbo at the begin like usual. (Publication Date, Picture, etc.) I'm in a little bit of a hurry. Sorry!

I suck at this..

*Dramatic Sigh*
I know I said I would be back, and I'm not. Sorry.
Summer started for me and I got distracted with friends. Again, Sorry.
On that note, I haven't been able to read many any books at all. The books I tried to read I couldn't get into and put them off until I'm ready. But, there is some good news! I am currently reading a book I enjoy, and HOPEFULLY I will get to review it. :)
Anyway, sorry for the wait, and I can't promise that there won't be more waiting in the future.
And again, Sorry.

I know it's been a while...

I haven't been on here since March, and that's because I decided the whole blogging thing wasn't for me. But, it's actually pretty fun and it gives me something to do on that little space I take between books.
Don't worry though, I haven't read that many books. Actually, I've read 4 1/2. (The 1/2 is a book I didn't finish.) Those books were:
Jumping Off Swings - Jo Knowles (4 stars) The Fault In Our Stars - John Green (5 Marvelous Stars)It's Kind Of A Funny Story - Ned Vizzini (Originally 5 stars, but I'm moving more towards 4 now.) Thirst No.1  - Christopher Pike (Unfinished. In my opinion, it sucked.) Before I fall  - Lauren Oliver (5 Fantastic Stars)
And, there you have it. I'm currently reading Perfect by Ellen Hopkins. (Which is a companion to Impulse.)

Today, I went to Barnes&Nobles, so I figured I would do a little Book Haul to make up for my absence.
Sorry, no pictures included. :(   Just names for now.

Tweak : Growing up on Methamphetamines. - Nic Sheff.
I'm not sure if this is a biography, or just the authors experience twisted around to make for a good story. I was a little hesitant to get this, because I read the excerpt on Nic Sheff's website before buying the book, and it didn't seem like my kind of book at the time. Of course, that was when I was first getting into books, and had never read a book about drugs. I changed my mind when I saw it in the store though. :)

Zombies v.s. Unicorns - Team Unicorn by: Holly Black, Kathleen Duey, Meg Cabot, Garth Nix, Margo Lanagan, Naomi Novik , Diana Peterfreund. Team Zombie by: Justine Larbalestier, Libba Bray, Alaya Dawn Johnson, Cassandra Clare, Maurenn Johnson, Scott Westerfeld, Carrie Ryan.
     Enough Said.

Down the Rabbit Hole  - Peter Abrahams
I saw something to do with Alice In Wonderland, and a national bestseller and picked it up. All of which, is understandable.

Shift - Em Bailey
No idea but, it does have good reviews.

There Is No Dog - Meg Rosoff

How can you say no to a title like that?

Hope you enjoyed! The End! :)

Delirium

Delirium by Lauren Oliver
Series:
Delirium #1
Genre: YA Dystopia, YA Romance
Pages: 441
Publication Date: February 1st 2011 by Harper Teen
Description:
Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn’t understand that once love -- the deliria -- blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the government demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Holoway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.

But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love.

I don't know what it is about this book that makes it so amazing. This may sound a bit cliche, but I did get teary eyed at the ending of this book. This book does not have a happy ending, it's an ending you'll despise, it's an ending that will wanna make you throw the book across the room and yell profanities at anthor who has ever used a cliffhanger.
I know this wasn't much of a review, but I think you get the point that you NEED to read this book. (For your well being.)

----Rating: 5 Stars----
I was a little confused about what I should rate this book. (Because it took be a while to read it.) But, the ending won be over and I settled on 5 Stars. (I know, practically all the books I rate are 5 stars. But it's not often I simple like a book. I either love it, or hate it.)
~Favorite Quotes~
"I love you. Remember. They cannot take it”
“You can't be happy unless you're unhappy sometimes".”

“I guess that’s just part of loving people: You have to give things up. Sometimes you even have to give them up.”

“I'd rather die my way than live yours.”

“Love: It will kill you and save you, both”

Update

Okay, first of all sorry for my little...break. Well, to be honest, I'm not sure if it's been that long. You see I tend to loose track of time easily, and with Spring Break here and all I just haven't made much time for reading.
Anyway, my next review will be on Delirium by Lauren Oliver. :)
Happy Reading!

Crank

Crank by Ellen Hopkins
Series:
Crank #1
Genre: Contemporary, Teen drug abuse.
Pages: 537
Publication Date: June 28th 2008 by Simon Pulse
Description:
Life was good
before I met
the monster

After,
life
was great
At
least
for a little while.

Kristina is the perfect daughter: gifted high school junior, quiet, never any trouble. Then she meets the monster: crank. And what begins as a wild ride turns into a struggle for her mind, her soul - her life.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Outstanding. Crank should be read by young and old. It teaches a lesson that few teens lack understanding in. The dangers of drugs, sex, and life choices.
Like all of Ellen Hopkins books, Crank is written in verse. When I started this book, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The beginning was a bit confusing for me, as well as a part near the middle of the book. Nevertheless, I loved every second of it and I absolutly can't wait to start the next book in the series: Glass.
Rating: I give it 5 stars.

Favorite Quotes:
“I hate this feeling. Like I'm here, but I'm not. Like someone cares. But they don't. Like I belong somewhere else, anywhere but here, and escape lies just past that snowy window, cool and crisp as the February air.”

“Taking no chances means wasting your dreams..”

“Have you ever had so much to say that your mouth closed up tight struggling to harness the nuclear force coalescing within your words? Have you ever had so many thoughts churning inside you that you didn’t dare let them escape in case they blew you wide open? Have you ever been so angry that you couldn’t look in the mirror for fear of finding the face of evil glaring back at you?”

Fearless

Fearless by Francine Pascal
Series:
Fearless #1
Genre: Contemporary mixed with a bit of mystery, action, and romance.
Pages: 199
Publication Date: October 1st 1999 by Simon Pulse
Description:

Fearless introduces us to Gaia Moore, a girl born without the gene for fear. Gaia's mother was murdered, and her father, Tom Moore, a famous covert antiterrorist mastermind, is in hiding. Now 17 years old, Gaia is living in New York City with Tom's CIA friend, George, and his wife, Ella. Gaia is a prime target for terrorists and is in constant danger, but she is trained in all forms of combat so she can defend herself. Like Buffy and Xena, Gaia Moore is a force.
But she is also a high school student, trying to be like everyone else. As her friendships develop, we see that Gaia is in many ways a typical teen -- when she's not busy getting herself into and out of dangerous situations, righting wrongs, avenging hurts, and solving mysteries.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WHAT!?! That's the end? Of course, ending on a mystery is always a way to keep someone reading. But, it's not such a good book that it's like: "I NEEEEED THE NEXT BOOK NOW!" No, no nothing like that. But, for the record , I do own the second book.
Now, let us talk about Gaia. What did I think about her? Well I didn't LOVE her character to begin with, but I grew fond of her. I still don't love her and, I don't have a very strong connection with her honestly. But, I understand why she does what she does.
Now heres the big question: Should you read this book?
Well, it depends on what kind of books you like but based on the reviews it has on Goodreads a lot of people seem to like it.
I rate this book: 3.5 Stars

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

The Unbecoming of Mara by Michelle Hodkin
Series: Mara Dyer #1
Genre: Y'know, I'm not entirely sure.
Pages: 452
Publication Date: September 27, 2011 by Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing.
Descripton:       Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there. It can. She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed. There is. She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love. She's wrong.

Oh. My. Gosh.
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is so...creepy, but in a good way. No, scratch that. In a great way.
I loved every single moment of this book. I loved every single word, every single letter, every single comma and period. I just loved it.
Does this book have any faults? Well, I was a little confused at times, but my questions were soon answered.
Michelle Hodkins put the perfect amount of mystery and romance into this. It was intruiging. But, this book isn't all serious. Oh, no. No, no, no. It's also funny. Hilarious to be exact.

Mara Dyer, pardon my language, was kick- ass. She didn't take crap from anyone. Also, she was relatable. It was understandable why she did the things she did. I mean, she was diagnosed with PTSD for crist sake she's not gonna be the perfect character. And she wasn't. That's why I loved her.
Now don't get me started on Noah Shaw. Wow, just wow. *Sigh*

Did I mention the book ends on a cliff hanger? Yeah, so that being said, bring on the next book Hodkins!

Favorite Quotes: “Why do you know the word for vagina in every language?” “Because I’m European, and therefore more cultured than you.”

“I've already learned Parseltongue. What else is there?"
"Elvish.”

“I’m sorry, is driving and talking too complicated? No problem, I’ll shut up.”

“I opened my eyes and focused on his. “I’d be happier without you,” I lied as convincingly as I could. “Too bad.” Noah’s mouth curved into the half-smile I loved and hated so much, just inches from my navel. My head was foggy. “You’re supposed to say, ‘All I want is your happiness. I’ll do whatever it takes, even if it means being without you.’ “ “Sorry,” Noah said. “I’m just not that big of a person.”

“Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and all that jazz. Anna use to be the abstinence poster girl, but post-Shaw you could write a comic book about the many adventures of her vagina. It could wear a cape.”

“You told me I smelled - like bacon."
"Well," he said evenly. "That's awkward.”

Book Haul!! Part: 1

Book Haul Time! :)   -2/11/12- Warning: This book all is a little super long. Therefore, I will be posting it in 2, maybe 3 parts.
My TBR (To be read) shelf is overflowing! There's maybe..50, 60 books I haven't read yet.
I know,  I know I should read faster, and stop buying books. But, I have school! And, after that extremely hard day at school all I want to do is get on my computer and listen to music, and maybe play a little Minecraft.
Without further adieu, let's start the book haul. Shall we?

First on the list I have Crank by the very talented and poetic Ellen Hopkins. Crank is Ellen Hopkin's first book for those of you who don't know, and as the title may suggest it deals with drugs.
Is this my first Ellen Hopkins book? No. The first and only book I've read by Ellen Hopkins is Impulse, and let me tell you; I loved every second of it. If you want a full review of Impulse please visit my goodreads page.
Also on my book haul I have the book Glass by Ellen Hopkins, which is the sequel to Crank. But, since I have yet to read Crank I will not be including Glass in this book haul. Maybe the next one.

Synopsis:
Kristina is the perfect daughter: gifted high school junior, quiet, never any trouble. Then she meets the monster: crank. And what begins as a wild ride turns into a struggle for her mind, her soul - her life.

Next on the list we have another book written by Ellen Hopkins. Burned. I haven't heard as much about Burned as I have her other books, but there is still no doubt in my mind that it will be great.

I was attracted to Burned because of it's cover. It just looked so intriguing. I was curious to what it was about, so I flipped through a couple pages of the book. I wasn't used to the writing style Hopkin's used, and did not enjoy poetry at the time I found burned. (Please note: This is before I knew of Ellen Hopkins.) So, what did I do? I quickly put the book back on the shelf and continued my search for a different book.
Months later, many, many months later my friend introduced me to Impulse. When I finished the book I told myself I would read all of Hopkins books. So, I went to the bookstore and what do you know? They don't have it. I continuously go back to the store time after time, and finally I get lucky.

Synopsis:
Raised in a religious - yet abusive - family, Pattyn Von Stratten starts asking questions - about God, a womans role, sex, love. She experiences the first stirrings of passion, but when her father catches her in a compromising position, events spiral out of control. Pattyn is sent to live with an aunt in the wilds of Nevada to find salvation and redemption. What she finds instead is love and acceptance - until she realizes that her old demons will not let her go.
"Really! Another Ellen Hopkins book?! Is this chick obsessed!" Why yes. Yes I am. Oh, don't worry it's the last one - I think.
Perfect is the sequel to Impulse. Though it deals with a whole new set of characters.
This book focuses on Cara, Connor's twin sister. (Connor is a character from the book Impulse as some of you may know.) As well as four other characters who are new.
The synopsis of this book sounds amazing. The moment I read it I knew I wanted it.
"Don't be ridiculous. You knew you wanted it when you saw it was an Ellen Hopkins book."
This. Is very true. But, I'm running a blog. I can't say I got a book just because of the author. I have to base it on the synopsis, and the cover, and what good things I've heard about it.
Speaking of the cover, it's beautiful. Don't you think? You can listen to the first few chapters on Ellen Hopkins website. Which I will post at the end of this haul.

Synopsis:
Perfect? How do you define a word without concrete meaning? To each his own, the saying goes, so why push to attain an ideal state of being that no two random people will agree is where you want to be? Faultless. Finished. Incomparable. People can never be these, and anyway, when did creating a flawless facade become a more vatal goal than learning to love the person who lives inside your skin? The outside belongs to others. Only you should decide for you - what is perfect.
The next book on the list is James Dashner's The Scorch Trials. Hmm, what other book was written by James Dashner? Oh, that's right, The Maze Runner. So this must be..
The sequel!
Oh, how I've longed to own the sequel to the fabulous book The Maze Runner. And, now I finally have it. It was the last one at the store too. How lucky can I get?
I've heard interesting things about this book. Very interesting things. Why, oh, why is Teresa horrible? Will Thomas and the rest of the Gladers be safe in this plage infested place?
These are the questions that haunt me.

Synopsis:
Solving the Maze was supposed to be the end. No more puzzles. No more variables. And no more running. Thomas was sure that escape meant he and the Gladers would get there lives back. But no one really knew what sort of life they were going back to.
Burned by sun flares and baked by a new, brutal climate, the earth is a wasteland. Government has disintegrated - and with it, order - and now Cranks, people covered in festering wounds and driven to murderous insanity by the infectious disease known as the Flare, roam the crumbling cities hunting for their next victim...and meal.
The Gladers are far from done running. Instead of freedom, they find themselves faced with another trial. They must cross the Scorch, the most burned out section of the world, and arrive at a safe haven in two weeks. And WICKED has made sure to adjust the variables and stack the odds against them. Thomas can only wonder - does he hold the secret to freedom somewhere in his mind? Or will he forever be at the mercy of WICKED?

So, I was walking through my towns used book store and out pops the freakiest book cover I have ever seen. I mean, What is that thing? It looks like it's gonna jump out of the cover and eat my soul any second.
And that my dear children, is exactly why I got this book.
Well, that and the reviews I've hear about it. Some good, some bad. Nevertheless, I am a risk taker, and for six dollars, it was a small risk to pay.
I'm sorry I'm getting chills from the cover. It's like it's staring at me. Waiting for me to avert my gaze so it can bite my head off.
I'm getting off topic. My apologies.

Synopsis:
Beyond the mirror, the darkest fairy tales come alive...
For years, Jacob Reckless has enjoyed the Mirrorworld's secrets and treasures.
Not anymore.
His younger brother has followed him. Now dark magic will turn the boy to beast, break the heart of the girl he loves, and destroy everything Jacob holds most dear...
Unless he can find a way to stop it. If your looking for a happily ever after, you've come to the wrong place.

When I saw this book in Walmart I nearly fainted. Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit. a bit?
Okay, wha had happen wazz... I was walking with my mom in walmart looking for presents for my sister, her husband, and my niece. Bored, I walk over to the book aisle and what do you know?
The second book in The Infernal Devices series is sitting right there. Right in front of my face. So, what do I do? Like any other normal person would do. I pick the book up and gently stroke it's cover about ten times with an astounded look on my face.
I probably looked ridiculous to by standers, but what do you expect? They couldn't have possibly understanded the feelings running through my body.
"What happened then Jodi? What idiotic thing did you do next?" Well, I ran to my mother (Who at the time was in the frozen foods section) and very loudly explained why I must have this book.
And her responce?
"I'll get you it for Christmas."
Christmas? Christmas? I couldn't possibly wait until Christmas! with a whole week left, the books would be sold out by then! I would never get to have this gorious book! My world was falling down around me as I placed the beautifully covered book back on the shelf with the rest of it's book buddies. One treachorous week later It was Christmas, and y'know what? I got the book. Surprise, Surprise.

Synopsis:
In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street - and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa's powers for his own dark ends.
With the help of handsome, self-destructive Will and the fiercely devoted Jem, Tessa discovers that the Magister's war on the Shadowhunters is deeply personal. He blames them for a long-ago tragedy that shattered his life. To unravel the secrets of the past, the trio journeys from mistshrounded Yorkshire to a manor house that holds untold horrors, from the slums of London to an enchanted ballroom where Tessa discovers that the truth of her parentage is more sinister than she had imagined. When they encounter a clockwork demon bearing a warning for Will, they realize that the Magister knows their every move - and that one of their own has betrayed them.
Tessa finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, though her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will - the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets and give Tessa the answers about who she is and what she was born to do?
As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart.

Finally, Finally, FINALLY!(That is how you spell 'finally' right? It looks wrong somehow.)
That's all I could think when I saw this book in the store. I searched high and low for this book. And, when I'm just casually strolling through a walmart a little farther away from my own POOF! It's there!
Of course, I had to look twice, because it's not the cover I'm used to seeing online, but it is an attractive cover.
Besides, having a different cover doesn't change the words on the pages. Personally, I've grown to love this cover more than the other one.
Like I said, I've heard a lot of good things about this book. But, I also heard one or two bad things about this book. Something about not connecting to the characters?
But, hey. Maybe I'll like the book more than people who didn't. Maybe I'll be able to connect to the characters. Who knows?

Synopsis:
Amy is a chryogenically frozen passenger aboard the spaceship Godspeed . She has left her boyfriend, friends - and planet - behind to join her parents as a member of Project Ark Ship. Amy and her parents believe they will wake on a new planet, Centauri - Earth, three hundred years in the future. But fifty years before Godspeed's scheduled landing, cryo chamber 42 is mysteriously unplugged, and Amy is violently woken from her frozen slumber.
Someone tried to murder her.
Now, Amy is caught inside a tiny world where nothing makes since. Godspeed's 2,312 passengers have forfeited all control to Eldest, a tyrannical and frightening leader. And Elder, Eldest's rebellious teenage heir, is both fascinated with Amy and eager to discover whether he has what it takes to lead.
Amy desperately wants to trush Elder. But should she put her faith in a boy who has never seen life outside the ship's cold metal walls? All Amy knows is that she and Elder must race to unlock Godspeed's hidden secrets before whoever woke her tries to kill again.

That was part one of my book haul! :)
I hope you enjoyed it! Oh, and by the way..
I think this may take more than 2 or 3 blogs. Sorry? heh, heh..
What can I say? I have a lotta books! Sue me why don't you!
Anyway, be on the lookout for Part 2!

Sisters Red

Sisters Red by Jackson Pierce. Genre: Fairytell retelling.
Pages: 324
Publication Date: June 7th 2010 by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.
Description:
Scarlett March lives to hunt the Fenris--the werewolves that took her eye when she was defending her sister Rosie from a brutal attack. Armed with a razor-sharp hatchet and blood-red cloak, Scarlett is an expert at luring and slaying the wolves. She's determined to protect other young girls from a grisly death, and her raging heart will not rest until every single wolf is dead.
Rosie March once felt her bond with her sister was unbreakable. Owing Scarlett her life, Rosie hunts ferociously alongside her. But even as more girls' bodies pile up in the city and the Fenris seem to be gaining power, Rosie dreams of a life beyond the wolves. She finds herself drawn to Silas, a young woodsman who is deadly with an ax and Scarlett's only friend--but does loving him mean betraying her sister and all that they've worked for?

I've heard a ton of good things about this book. In fact that's all I've heard about this book. No bad reviews, no complaints. However, that wasn't the case with me. In fact, I didn't even finish Sisters Red. Now don't get me wrong I did try. I got through half of the book before sitting it down. There was no urge to finish reading, I was simply not interested. But, before we get to far into this review I would like to say I did enjoy Jackson Pierce's 3rd book Sweetly. So, you should definitly check that out.

Let's talk about the characters. Scarlett wasn't the problem with me, I actually enjoyed her very much. Sure there were a few minor issues with her, but I totally understand why she does what she does. Rosie on the other hand...
Well, let's just say she wasn't my favorite character. She was just so girly. It seemed whatever she did she always started thinking about Silas. Silas this, Silas that. She was a very annoying character for me.

Another reason I decided to put the book down was the pace. Sisters Red's pace was very slow. Now, I will read a  slow paced book if I have the urge to pick it up and read. But, that simply did not happen with this book.
From what I read of this book I would have to rate it 3 Stars. (Sisters Red was still somewhat enjoyable.)

Please Note: I didn't enjoy Sisters Red BUT I did enjoy Sweetly. Therefore, I will be reading Pierce's next book: Fathomless.

Uglies

Uglies by Scott Westerfeild Series: The Uglies Trilogy #1
Genre: Dystopian, SiFi
Pages: 425
Publication Date: February 8th 2005 by Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing (first published January 1, 2005)
Description:
Tally is about to turn sixteen, and she can't wait. In just a few weeks she'll have the operation that will turn her from a repellent ugly into a stunning pretty. And as a pretty, she'll be catapulted into a high-tech paradise where her only job is to have fun.
But Tally's new friend Shay isn't sure she wants to become pretty. When Shay runs away, Tally learns about a whole new side of the pretty world-and it isn't very pretty. The authorities offer Tally a choice: find her friend and turn her in, or never turn pretty at all. Tally's choice will change her world forever...

Review:
As the pretties in the book would say: This book is so bubbly!
This book is unlike any book I've ever read before. Hoverboards, Crash Braclets, Elevators that talk. And, not to mention they don't cut down tree's or use fossil fuels! If only we did that now. Y'know without the requirement to become pretty.

I wouldn't say this was a slow paced book, but it's not fast paced either. Maybe somewhere in the middle. The plot developement is great, as well as the character development. I was never annoyed by any of the characters to say the least. All of them had a reason for doing what they did and it was understandable.

Overall, this is a fantastic book! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes SiFi/Dystopia books. Actually I would recommend it for anyone! So, what are you waiting for? Go buy the book if you haven't already and READ IT!

Happy Reading!!

Rating: 5 stars.

Favorite Quotes:
"What you do, the way you think, makes you beautiful."

"You're insane!" she shouted."Pretty cool, huh?""No!"Tally yelled. "Why didn't you tell me it was broken?"Shay shrugged. "More fun that way?""More fun?" Her heart beating fast, her vision strangely clear. She was full of anger and relief and...joy."Well, kind of. But you suck!"

"Shay sometimes talked in a mysterious way, like she was quoting the lyrics of some band no one else listened to."

"Perhaps the logical conclusion of everyone looking the same is everyone thinking the same."

The next quote I was planning to put contained a spoiler, so I decided not to put it. Don't want to ruin the book for anyone now do we? :)

The Summer I Turned Pretty

The Summer I turned Pretty by Jenny Han
Series: Summer ( #1 )
Genre: Realistic (Contemporary)
Pages: 276
Publication Date: December 21st 2010 by Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing
Description: Some summers are just destined to be pretty. Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer -- they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one wonderful and terrible summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.

Okay, I'll be honest about this. I didn't like Belly very much. It's not that she was childish, it's just... I don't get along well with boy crazy people. When my friend is going crazy for a boy I tend to get a tad upset with her, and sometimes end up ignoring her just to avoid the topic of boys. Maybe it's because I've never had an actual relationship before. I'm sorry but my brain does not function that way. My life does not revolve around boys. All through this book I was thinking I was going to rate it 3 stars. But, the ending got to me.
Now, to the big question. Jeremiah or Conrad?
Honestly....
No clue!
In the end, this was a pretty good book. I'll admit it's not my favorite book in the world but, I think I'll  will be reading the second book in the series.
Happy Reading!

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer
Series:
A Novel (No Series)
Genre: Realistic Fiction
Pages: 326
Book's Description:       Nine-year-old Oskar Schell has embarked on an urgent, secret mission that will take him through the five boroughs of New York. His goal is to find the lock that matches a mysterious key that belonged to his father, who died in the World Trade Center on the morning of September 11. This seemingly impossible task will bring Oskar into contact with survivors of all sorts on an exhilarating, affecting, often hilarious, and ultimately healing journey.

Extremely Loud& Incredibly Close is Amazing.
This book made me laugh so much, and it's hard to find a book that does that to me. The first page had me laughing, and smiling at Oskar's thoughts. This book doesn't just contain Oskar's story though. It also has his grandparent's story. Oh so it's there's going to be a lovely dovey story on the side? Not quite. It's not at all a love story, or perhaps it is. It's pretty hard to tell. All in all, this story is about a young boy who lost his father in the 9/11 attacks, and is now on a journey to find the lock that fits the key, that was hidden in his fathers vase. It is definitly a must read.

Rating: 5 starsFavorite Quotes:
“Well, what I don’t get is why do we exist? I don’t mean how, but why.” I watched the fireflies of his thoughts orbit his head. He said, “We exist because we exist.” “What the?” “We could imagine all sorts of universes unlike this one, but this is the one that happened.”

“Being with him made my brain quiet. I didn’t have to invent a thing.”

“Just because you’re an atheist, that doesn’t mean you wouldn’t love for things to have reasons for why they are.”

“She let out a laugh, and then she put her hand over her mouth, like she was angry at herself for forgetting her sadness.”

“Everything that’s born has to die, which means our lives are like skyscrapers. The smoke rises at different speeds, but they’re all on fire, and we’re all trapped.”
