My TBR (To be read) shelf is overflowing! There's maybe..50, 60 books I haven't read yet.
I know, I know I should read faster, and stop buying books. But, I have school! And, after that extremely hard day at school all I want to do is get on my computer and listen to music, and maybe play a little Minecraft.
Without further adieu, let's start the book haul. Shall we?
First on the list I have Crank by the very talented and poetic Ellen Hopkins. Crank is Ellen Hopkin's first book for those of you who don't know, and as the title may suggest it deals with drugs. Also on my book haul I have the book Glass by Ellen Hopkins, which is the sequel to Crank. But, since I have yet to read Crank I will not be including Glass in this book haul. Maybe the next one.
Synopsis:
Kristina is the perfect daughter: gifted high school junior, quiet, never any trouble. Then she meets the monster: crank. And what begins as a wild ride turns into a struggle for her mind, her soul - her life.
Next on the list we have another book written by Ellen Hopkins. Burned. I haven't heard as much about Burned as I have her other books, but there is still no doubt in my mind that it will be great.
I was attracted to Burned because of it's cover. It just looked so intriguing. I was curious to what it was about, so I flipped through a couple pages of the book. I wasn't used to the writing style Hopkin's used, and did not enjoy poetry at the time I found burned. (Please note: This is before I knew of Ellen Hopkins.) So, what did I do? I quickly put the book back on the shelf and continued my search for a different book.Synopsis:
Raised in a religious - yet abusive - family, Pattyn Von Stratten starts asking questions - about God, a womans role, sex, love. She experiences the first stirrings of passion, but when her father catches her in a compromising position, events spiral out of control. Pattyn is sent to live with an aunt in the wilds of Nevada to find salvation and redemption. What she finds instead is love and acceptance - until she realizes that her old demons will not let her go.
"Really! Another Ellen Hopkins book?! Is this chick obsessed!" Why yes. Yes I am. Oh, don't worry it's the last one - I think. This book focuses on Cara, Connor's twin sister. (Connor is a character from the book Impulse as some of you may know.) As well as four other characters who are new.
The synopsis of this book sounds amazing. The moment I read it I knew I wanted it.
"Don't be ridiculous. You knew you wanted it when you saw it was an Ellen Hopkins book."
This. Is very true. But, I'm running a blog. I can't say I got a book just because of the author. I have to base it on the synopsis, and the cover, and what good things I've heard about it.
Speaking of the cover, it's beautiful. Don't you think? You can listen to the first few chapters on Ellen Hopkins website. Which I will post at the end of this haul.
Synopsis:
Perfect? How do you define a word without concrete meaning? The next book on the list is James Dashner's The Scorch Trials. Hmm, what other book was written by James Dashner? Oh, that's right, The Maze Runner. So this must be.. Oh, how I've longed to own the sequel to the fabulous book The Maze Runner. And, now I finally have it. It was the last one at the store too. How lucky can I get?
I've heard interesting things about this book. Very interesting things. Why, oh, why is Teresa horrible? Will Thomas and the rest of the Gladers be safe in this plage infested place?
These are the questions that haunt me.
Synopsis:

So, I was walking through my towns used book store and out pops the freakiest book cover I have ever seen. I mean, What is that thing? It looks like it's gonna jump out of the cover and eat my soul any second. Well, that and the reviews I've hear about it. Some good, some bad. Nevertheless, I am a risk taker, and for six dollars, it was a small risk to pay.
I'm sorry I'm getting chills from the cover. It's like it's staring at me. Waiting for me to avert my gaze so it can bite my head off.

When I saw this book in Walmart I nearly fainted. Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit. a bit? The second book in The Infernal Devices series is sitting right there. Right in front of my face. So, what do I do? Like any other normal person would do. I pick the book up and gently stroke it's cover about ten times with an astounded look on my face.
I probably looked ridiculous to by standers, but what do you expect? They couldn't have possibly understanded the feelings running through my body.
"What happened then Jodi? What idiotic thing did you do next?" Well, I ran to my mother (Who at the time was in the frozen foods section) and very loudly explained why I must have this book.
And her responce?
"I'll get you it for Christmas."
Christmas? Christmas? I couldn't possibly wait until Christmas! with a whole week left, the books would be sold out by then! I would never get to have this gorious book! My world was falling down around me as I placed the beautifully covered book back on the shelf with the rest of it's book buddies. One treachorous week later It was Christmas, and y'know what? I got the book. Surprise, Surprise.

Finally, Finally, FINALLY!(That is how you spell 'finally' right? It looks wrong somehow.) That's all I could think when I saw this book in the store. I searched high and low for this book. And, when I'm just casually strolling through a walmart a little farther away from my own POOF! It's there!
Of course, I had to look twice, because it's not the cover I'm used to seeing online, but it is an attractive cover.
Besides, having a different cover doesn't change the words on the pages. Personally, I've grown to love this cover more than the other one.
Like I said, I've heard a lot of good things about this book. But, I also heard one or two bad things about this book. Something about not connecting to the characters?
But, hey. Maybe I'll like the book more than people who didn't. Maybe I'll be able to connect to the characters. Who knows?
