Crank

Crank by Ellen Hopkins
Series:
Crank #1
Genre: Contemporary, Teen drug abuse.
Pages: 537
Publication Date: June 28th 2008 by Simon Pulse
Description:
Life was good
before I met
the monster

After,
life
was great
At
least
for a little while.

Kristina is the perfect daughter: gifted high school junior, quiet, never any trouble. Then she meets the monster: crank. And what begins as a wild ride turns into a struggle for her mind, her soul - her life.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Outstanding. Crank should be read by young and old. It teaches a lesson that few teens lack understanding in. The dangers of drugs, sex, and life choices.
Like all of Ellen Hopkins books, Crank is written in verse. When I started this book, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The beginning was a bit confusing for me, as well as a part near the middle of the book. Nevertheless, I loved every second of it and I absolutly can't wait to start the next book in the series: Glass.
Rating: I give it 5 stars.

Favorite Quotes:
“I hate this feeling. Like I'm here, but I'm not. Like someone cares. But they don't. Like I belong somewhere else, anywhere but here, and escape lies just past that snowy window, cool and crisp as the February air.”

“Taking no chances means wasting your dreams..”

“Have you ever had so much to say that your mouth closed up tight struggling to harness the nuclear force coalescing within your words? Have you ever had so many thoughts churning inside you that you didn’t dare let them escape in case they blew you wide open? Have you ever been so angry that you couldn’t look in the mirror for fear of finding the face of evil glaring back at you?”
